“Heart of Trust” by Kristina Hall

Blurb

Two cattle barons, a rancher and his wife, and the piece of land they all want.
When Jake Aymes purchases the ranch he’s long dreamed of, he doesn’t expect that he’s bought a tract of land desired by two other ranchers. Those ranchers resort to intimidation, and Jake begins to think he’s put his wife in harm’s way.
Georgia Aymes shared her husband’s dream of moving West, but the threats prove to be a constant source of stress. She fears that she and her worries have become nothing more than a burden to Jake.
Will she and Jake trust God as they face what might be the worst trial of their lives?

My Review
⭐⭐⭐⭐ & ❤︎❤︎❤︎❤︎

4 stars. I haven’t read a ton of Westerns, especially not set after the Civil War, so this was an interesting setting! For a novella, this was very well done—very watertight, not rushed, but definitely not dragging either. And I really liked the concept of two cattle barons fighting over one piece of land belonging to a small rancher! The plot was unpredictable right up to the end and I really appreciated how it all turned out. (I liked Dalton!)

Jake and Georgia were a nice couple. Georgia was realistic with all her anxiety, although I wish she didn’t constantly think she had to bear up for Jake and he would despise her—something I struggle with a lot and am trying to weed out. I was a bit annoyed by Jake’s stubbornness but then again I have no idea what I would do if I was in his position! I particularly liked how Jake’s PTSD and the Reconstruction fit into the story, though.

Overall, a solid story with a good message! 🙂

Quotes to come. I received a complimentary copy of this book for promotional purposes. I was not required to write a positive review. These are my honest thoughts and opinions.
